WEEK 7 and WEEK 8 - Survey Analysis Using SPSS and writing a report.

Assalamualaikum to all.

For week 7 and week 8, we are recording all the data that we have collected from our research into SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science). After we have recorded all the data, we also need to write a report about what method we use for our research, and what is our findings from the research that we have made.

Week 7: Record All The Data From The Research Into SPSS.

First step: Need to download SPSS in our computer.

To download SPSS, I need to search from google to find the software. Then, after I have found the suitable link for me to download the SPSS, I need to install the software into my computer.
When I have finished installing the software, I can start recording all the data that me and my partner have collected from the survey. Below, are the introduction to SPSS.

After we have record all the data into SPSS, we can process the data to produce the overall result of our research. The result will be our reference for our research report.

Week 8 - Writing A Report Of Our Research.

On week 8, we were asked to write a report about our research, what methods that we used for our research and our findings from the research. What me and my partner found out from our research is that most of our respondent preferred to used original and licensed software rather than pirated software and they personally recommended their family and friends to use original and licensed software because they believe that original and licensed software is more beneficial than pirated software. We also found out that most of the respondent have a good general knowledge about original and licensed software.

After we have done doing our report, we share it in our google doc and also upload it in our yahoo group files.

WEEK 6- Real Research (Questionnaire/Survey Week)

Assalamualaikum, this week is a continuation of last week assignment, where this week we were asked to create a survey or a questionnaire about our sub-topic (in my case, original and licensed software) using survey monkey and google doc.

Each group have to create 10 questions for the survey. So each group have to discuss with their partner about the questions that they want to ask to their classmates. The questions need to be relevant to the topic.

After we have decided the 10 questions that we want to ask, we have to sign up at www.surveymonkey.com. Then we can start creating our own survey using survey monkey.

We need to share the link of our survey into our Facebook group so that other members can answer the survey.

2nd step, proceed on creating a survey using google doc. By creating *new form* we can then start creating our survey.

We need to copy the link of our survey from google doc into our GE1155 computer in education yahoo group by clicking on link *links* on the left side of the yahoo group page. There, we need to copy our survey link into a a folder according to our topics.

We also need to print those survey and distribute it to our friends from other faculties.

WEEK 5 - Mini Research on Original and Licensed Software

Assalamualaikum to all.

Alhamdulillah now we have come to week 5. Thanks to Allah for helping us along

the journey.This week assignment on computer in education involves doing a research

on our sub-topic from assignment 1 (for my group, Original and Licensed Software)

on UKM subscription research Database, google scholar and also on google books.

We were asked to search 2 journal articles from UKM subscription research Database,

1 journal from google scholar and 1 book that is related to my group sub-topic from

google books.

My journey in doing the research above:

I have to admit, this week assignment is a little bit tough and difficult, especially in

finding the journals in UKM research database. It takes me for hours to find any journals

that is relevant to my group's sub-subtopic. There were some articles that need to be

purchase in order to download the journal articles. So, I need to be wise in finding the

journals that is free and relevant to our topic.

Next Step:

After I have find all the important and relevant informations from the journals and

book, I need to share those informations with my partner, my classmates and my lecturer

in my Facebook group. Me, my partner and my classmates need to discuss about the

article journals and books that we have found.

Then, after the discussion had finished, we can now proceed on doing a report about

our sub-topics based on the article journals and books that we have found from the

internet. The report should be done using Open Office Writer. I do not have that

software in my laptop, so I need to download that software first before I can proceed

on doing my report.

To Download Open Office Writer:

• Search on www.google.com = Download Open Office Writer.
• Then, click on the link that you think is relevant to your search. From there, you can automatically start downloading the open office writer to your laptop.
• After finish downloading it to your laptop, you need to install the open office writer in order for you to be able to use that software.
• When you have done installing the software, the open office writer are ready to use.

Write a report about original and licensed software using open office writer based on the article journals and books what you have found in the internet. Then after I have finished writing my report, I convert my report document into PDF. Lastly, I upload my report into my Yahoo Group and I also share my report in my google doc.

WEEK 3 and WEEK 4 - ASSIGNMENT 1 ( Original and Licensed Software)

This week for my computer in education class, me and classmates have been given our first assignment, where each of us are required to form a pair or a triplet in each group. Then, after we decide who is going to be our partner for thisassignment, each of the group will have to choose one topic each that had been set by our lecturer which is:

Original and licensed software have been to me and partner as

For the reader’s information, in order for me to understand the meaning of original and licensed software better, I separate the questions into two parts, which is:
*What is original software? And

*What is licensed software?

How Does Original And Licensed Software Affect Us as Users and The Private Company?

For users, it is beneficial for them to purchase original and licensed software because it has a better quality and more reliable to use than a piracy software. However, because this kind of software is usually expensive, users tend to go towards buying piracy software because of its cheaper price. Thus, because of this, the company who produced the original and licensed software might experience some profit lost. Therefore, in order to prevent this, they provide a copyright for their software product.

Punishment For Software Piracy Fine: Up to $150,000

Penalty: 5 Years Prison Sentences or $250,000 fine.

NEXT STEP:

After I have collect all the information that I needed for my sub-topic, I have to share my information with my partner and the rest of my classmates whether by using my Facebook group of my partner's facebook group. Then, my partner and my classmates must respond to what I have share with them.

How To Share Informations Through Facebook Group By Using Docs :

To share my informations with my partner and my classmates using facebook group, firstly I have to open the facebook group address that I wanted to used. Then, I need to click *Docs* on top of the facebook group page. After I have put all the informations there, I just simply need to post my document into my Facebook Group.After I have finished sharing my report on CMS in my Facebook group, I also need to share
my report in my google doc.

Then, I need to download my report into PDF and upload it into my Yahoo Group file.


My Personal Experience and Opinion:

From my personal experience in doing this assignment, it was a little bit hard to find the information about my group sub-topic at Google. There were not many relevant informations about Original and Licensed Software that is needed for this assignment.The next option to find more info about this topic, I went to our UKM main library, Perpustakaan Tun Seri Lanang, with my partner. Alhamdulillah, now I have come to my 2nd weeks studying computer in education. On our 2nd assignment, we were asked to search about Course Management systems (CMS) or also known as Learning Management Systems (LMS). I have search about CMS by using a search engine (google). We can also use other search engine such as Yahoo. We can search about CMS by using 5 main keyword, (What, Why, Where, Who and How).a

Definition of CMS:

Based on Wikipedia definition of CMS, it is a software application for the administration, documentation, tracking, and reporting of training programs, classroom and online events, e-learning programs, and training content.

My own definition on CMS is:

Its a learning system where students learn and teachers teach via internet or web through open source software, instead of doing it in classroom. Students can check their lecturer notes and updates regularly at anytime they want and they can also manage to do their assignment more easily as they can summit it online instead of summiting it one on one to their lecturers. Some of the reasons why we should used CMS in our education systems or in work office:

● Can save you valuable classroom time and improve the learning experience for your students. ● Can make learning process more effectives and easy by interacting with lectures or students anytime anywhere. It is more student and teacher centred.

● A CMS allows for teachers and administrators to track attendance, time on task, and student progress.

● It allows students, lecturers or workers who works in an office to share any documents, PowerPoint presentation, videos and etc.

● Only small number of lecturers is required as the course intake is being done through Internet.

● The learners can refer back through the materials from CMS at any time and as many times they want.

● It can give students and workers more time to do their work as they can summit their work or assignment through online rather than submitting it to one on one to their lecturers or administraton. It also allows students to discuss with their classmates through web groups.

● By using CSM, it will expose the students and workers on using computers as we are now lived in an advance and modern era.

However, there are some problems in using this CMS technique. What if the country does not have an advance technologies and there is no access to internet?? Then it would be hard for them to use this technique in their education system. Then how about people who lived in an addvance places but don't know how to use computer or IT?? Then the government have to spend money to teach this skills to them.

On the other hand, it is beneficial for the government to spent their budget on this course.

Learning From Mistakes

This week, we continue our assignment in our computer in education class. There is a corrections that needs to be done for my 1st assignment. One mistake that I done is that I name my yahoo group web address based on my matric number and my official name when I was suppose to name my Yahoo group web address based on my matric number, my group and my official name.

Thus, with a little bit of editing by clicking the 'management' menu on the left side on the yahoo group, then select 'Description & Appearance' I can edit my Yahoo group web address. From here, I learned how important it is for me and my classmates to read our lecturer's instruction carefully and with precision. Although my mistakes seems to be small but it can affect my grading and it also shows how careless we are in doing our work

Therefore, from this time onwards...I will promise myself to learn better and to be conscious on any instructions that our lecturer tell us to do. Learn by heart.

1st WEEK OF LEARNING COMPUTER IN EDUCATION

First of all, I am very excited to post my very first entry on my own blog. Here I will share my experience on my study in computer in education and what I have learn so far from that course. Because we are living in an era where the technologies are getting more advanced and modern, we as a '"future teachers" need to have the skills in using these technologies in learning and teaching and be up-to-date with todays era.

During the first week of this course, me and my colleagues learn how to create our own personal formal email on Yahoo.com and Google.com. We also learn how to join a group on Yahoo and how to sign up on Facebook and create our own group on Facebook and Yahoo. This will be our very first assignment for the week.

The process of creating official Yahoo account,Yahoo group, Official Gmail account, facebook account and facebook group:

To create an official Yahoo mail, first we have to SIGN UP for yahoo account. Then we have to name our Yahoo username and Yahoo mail web address based on our official name.

www.gmail.com: ✓

To create an official Gmail, it is actually nearly the same process as how we create our Yahoo account. The very first step that we should do was to SIGN UP for google mail account at www.gmail.com After that, we also have to name our gmail user name and gmail web address based on our official name.

At first I have a slight difficulties on how to change my username on my official yahoo account and also on my gmail account. But...with hard work and motivation, at last I can change it and succeeded. With a little bit of editing through *option* then click *Account*. After that, select *Yahoo! Mail* There I can change my yahoo account username.

After I finished creating my Yahoo account and Gmail account, I add my course lecturer which is also my course coordinator for computer in education subject.

Then, we also need to join my computer in education official course Yahoo group at http://group.yahoo.com/group/ge1155-2011. By joining this group, our lecturer can track and see our progress on our assignment. It is also where we can have a discussion between our classmates and to keep updated on our course. It is important for me and the rest of my classmates to keep on checking in this Yahoo group for updates and also to keep on tract in doing our assignments. It is also easier for us to interact with our lecturer if we have some problems in doing our assignments. In this group, we as student can explore through it. We were also been asked to discuss the differences of sending message using yahoo group and yahoo email.

The next step that I need to do is to create my own Yahoo group. To create my own yahoo group, I have to view my computer in education official course yahoo group (ge1155-2011), then from there, i can create my own yahoo group by clicking *Start a group*. Then I name my yahoo group based on my matric number and my group name. After finished creating it, I invite my lecturer, my group partner and my classmates into joining my group.

After I have created my official Yahoo account, Yahoo group and Gmail account, I proceed on creating my facebook account. By signing up on www.facebook.com, I officially have created my facebook account. My facebook username and my facebook web address are based on my official name.

On this website, we were also been asked to create an official group. The process of creating it is almost the same as creating a Yahoo group By clicking *create a group*, we have automatically have made our official facebook group. I have name my Yahoo group based on my matric number, my group name and my official name. Then, after I have finished creating my facebook account, i also add my lecturer and my partner into my facebook group.

After finishing creating our official Yahoo account, Google account and Facebook account, our lecturer also asked us to create our own signature in our Yahoo mail account and our google mail account.

To Create A Signature In Yahoo Account:

First step, go to option menu at the top of the Yahoo page. Then click *Mail options.*

Then, click *signature* on the mail option menu in the left side of the page. There you can start creating your own signature.

To Create A Signature In Gmail Account:

First, you have to go to your Gmail account (www.gmail.com). Then click on the gear picture menu on the top right side of the page. Next, click on *Mail settings*

After that, go to the signature section of the mail settings. There, you can start creating your signature for your gmail account.
